Lye

Lye (Sodium Hydroxide - NaOH) is an alkali necessary for soap-making. Lye is what gives the soap that satisfying lather and essentially saponifies the tallow to maximize its benefits. We use pure, food-grade lye and our saponification process completely uses up all of it. This means no lye actually remains in the product once it's ready for sale.
